In September 2002 I bought a new digital camera, the Canon G2, There are more settings and controls on this camera,
which makes it
more fun to take pictures, compared with our "point-and-shoot" Canon S100. The link to the left (click on the image) will take you to the best pictures from the first months. All are taken in Marin, CA.

Another nice day in Marin. First day in March I took a hike up the
cataract trail in Marin, near Fairfax, CA. I went there mainly to
take pictures of the waterfalls. The reflections in the lake/dam looked
pretty good also.

Nice but cool day in Marin. Took a bike ride around Ignacio/Alameda Del Prado
in Novato and found tons of caterpillars... everywhere...
|
|
Some shots taken in April 2003. A few from up on Mt. Tam. and some
macros of damselflies (I thought is was dragonflies, but was wrong).
Also some of my flower shots... :)

Some pictures from Marin from various hikes. These are taken with a
Canon D30 that I got in May. Not a lot of megapixels (3M) and not that
new (~2yrs old) but still pretty good in my opinion. Check yourself...

More pictures from hikes. Saw the first large snake in the area. Have no idea what
kind it is. If you can spot it, please let me know what it was.
|
|
Another hike. I set out to see if it was possible to reach the top (with various
antennas) that you can see from most of Novato. It was possible, but quite a lot
of work. After reaching the top (called Loma Alta I think), I decided to take a
chance and took another trail down. I ended up by George Lucas Ranch.

Some macro pictures taken with a set of extension tubes (58mm) and the Canon 28-135mm
lens. Pretty trick to get them sharp without a tripod. All pictures were taken
handheld.
|
|
Yet more macro pictues. This time with an old and cheap 35-80mm lens with the same
extension tubes (Kenko, total 68mm). This time I used the 420 EX Flash to get
more depth-of-filed (DOF) in the pictures. All handheld.

Yet more macro pictues.

New camera, the Canon Digital Rebel (300D). Pictures from first few
days. Some examples with the Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6, some with the
Canon EF 100-300mm f/4.0-5.6, some with (modified) Kenko extension tubes.

|
Took the ferry to San Francisco to see the first game between the SF Giants and
LA Dodgers in the double header on 9/27. They lost... :(

Sausolito and Golden Gate bridge to the the Blue Angels fly. It's fleerweek in
San Francisco, have a look!
