Why can't I FTP to some places? There are two main reasons for this. Real Programmers: are not baffled by complex hardware, such as the telephone say "I don't know" when they don't. know who does what in operations. always leave the user smiling. know what they are doing. know each of the unique names by which operations, programming, users, and management refer to the same system. can maintain a cooperative relationship with quality assurance. are not intimidated by contractors. don't need the manuals. dont' work on weekends. can't write JCL. don't tell war stories about the good old days. dress for success when they have a walk-through.
