While studying at UC Berkeley (California, USA, Earth) Lidström
frequently visited San Francisco. During one of these occasions he
visited Golden Gate Park, where he came upon the company of
Starfleet Captain James Kirk and crew.
When they where boarding their vessel, a cloaked Klingon Bird of Prey
, Lidström managed to
sneak aboard before the ramp could be closed.By staying hidden, Lidström was not discovered until the ship and its crew had returned to its own time (i.e., the year 2286) and crashed into the San Francisco Bay. Since there was no way of returning Lidström to his own time he had to remain in 2286.
2287Lidström is accepted to Starfleet Academy with recommendations from Starfleet Captain James Kirk.

Graduates Starfleet Academy where he have majored in Advanced Computer Science, and in Tactical and Security (Note: Credited for his vast knowledge in Earth history).
After graduation Lidström gets his first assignment as Science Officer
aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise-A, under the command of Captain James Kirk.

Lidström gets promoted to Lieutenant, junior grade.
Shortly after the incident at the peace conference on Kithomer when most of the command crew of the U.S.S Enterprise-A is retired or transferred elsewhere, Lidström is transferred to U.S.S. Maine, commanded by Captain Beverly Rogan, where he is positioned in Engineering.

Lidström gets promoted to full Lieutenant.

When U.S.S. Maine is attacked and badly damaged by a Romulan Warbird. Lidström manages to calibrate the computer so it can lock-on to the Romulan torpedo an beam it to a location behind the Warbird, and since the torpedo can penetrate the senders own shields, the Warbird is destroyed.
On Lidström's own request he is transferred from Engineering to Tactical.

Lidström gets promoted to Lieutenant Commander.

When Captain Beverly Rogan is transferred to Starbase 10, Lidström is asked to join her as Chief of Security.
2299Lidström gets promoted to Commander.
Shortly after his promotion he leaves for a short vacation on Tarker II. But when returning to Starbase 10 his shuttlecraft gets caught in a subspace disruption and Starfleet looses contact with him.
In spite of extensive search, no traces of the shuttlecraft can be found, and Commander Kent Lidström is presumed dead.
2361After going through a temporal rift near Tarker II in 2299, Lidström emerges in the year 2361. He is reinstated in Starfleet with unchanged rank (i.e., Commander).
After declining the offer of going directly into active duty on the U.S.S. Derry, Lidström stays nearly a year at Starfleet Academy to update his knowledge about what has happened during the last 62 years.

After Starfleet Academy Lidström is transferred to Starfleet Headquarters, San Francisco, Earth. Assignment classified.

Lidström is transferred to U.S.S. Salem, commanded by Captain Jack Torrance, as first officer.
2365While conducting an experiment near Cardassian space, the long-range scan picks up a Cardassian ship near the border. Under protest from Commander Lidström, Captain Torrance orders the U.S.S. Salem to cross the border into Cardassian space and pursue the ship. Once in weapons range Captain Torrance give the order to fire on the Cardassians, with the only explanation that they deserves to be wiped out for killing his son in a battle, two years before.
First Officer Lidström counterorders the Captain, and together with Chief Medical Officer Michael Hanlon, they relieve the Captain of his command according to Starfleet General Orders and Regulations; Order 104, Section C.

After declining the command of Starbase 234, Lidström gets temporarily transferred to Starfleet Academy as Weapons and Tactical Instructor.
After the U.S.S. Enterprise-D under the command of Jean-Luc Picard encounters the Borg, Commander Lidström gets a field-promotion to Captain and takes command of U.S.S. Blaze.
2367U.S.S. Blaze engages the Borg in battle at Wolf 395. However, the ship is destroyed along side with 38 other Starfleet vessels and two Klingon warships. Fortunately most of the crew manages to escape the doomed ship before the warp core explodes. Severe injured Lidström still manage to escape together with his crew.
Shortly after the battle with the Borg, Lidström gets promoted to Captain, and once again he is transferred to Starfleet Headquarters, San Francisco, Earth. Assignment classified.

Captain Lidström is asked to contact Admiral Spock and deliver some crucial information regarding the Admirals peace work on Romulus. Lidström is chosen for his experience in under-cover operations, and for the fact that Admiral Spock and the Captain knows each other from before. Mission details classified.
About six month after returning from Romulus, Captain Lidström is granted a leave of absence, and travels to Vulcan to study Vulcan philosophy.
